    “Starting Point”

Bring your gifts and interests to our community.

“Starting Point” is a four-hour gathering designed for people new to UUCP. You can share your own background and interests and learn about the many ways we engage with each other and the wider community.

We’ll talk about how Unitarian Universalism started as two Christian heresies and now draws from many sources, religious and humanist. We have set aside creeds and commit to principles and promises of how we live together and in our world. We’ll also describe our own congregation’s history, how we govern and finance ourselves, and the process of becoming a member.

Our next gathering will be in person, Saturday, October 19, from 9:00am to 1:00pm on the UUCP campus. Please register below.

  • Help Us Close the Gap in Our Giving!

Help Us Close the Gap in Our Giving!

To support our values and fulfill our commitments, we need your help to reach our budget goal. We’re operating on a zero-balance budget and making necessary sacrifices, but we can’t do it alone.

At our annual meeting on June 9, we approved a budget of $610,000. We are currently $4,800 short of that goal.

We need just 16 more pledging units to contribute $300/year or $25/month to Close the Gap and reach our 2024/2025 budget goal.

    How to Help:

    • Email: closethegap@phoenixuu.org
    • Include your name and the additional amount you wish to pledge.
    • If you have auto payments through your bank, please adjust them after notifying us.

If you haven’t made a pledge yet, please email us, and we’ll get you set up. Every contribution counts and helps our UUCP community thrive.

    With Love and Gratitude,
Reverend Christine and the Board of Trustees

You Can Help Us Close the Gap at UUCP!

In order to act in all the ways that support our values, we need to support ourselves, including our staff, to be able to make our programming a reality and fulfill our commitments to our community. We are working on a zero balance budget and making sacrifices in order to live into the budget and prepare to renew our commercial credit line which includes our mortgage. We all agree that we would like to do more. But first we must meet our budget goal.

At our annual meeting on June 9, we approved a budget of $610,000. We are currently $10,800 short of that goal.

From our original ask of 200 pledging units, we now just need 36 pledging units to contribute $300/year or $25/month to finish out the remaining $10,800.00 and Close the Gap to reach our 2024/2025 budget goal of $610,000.00.

Please send an email to: closethegap@phoenixuu.org

In that email, state your name and what you would like to add to your current pledge. We will handle all the necessary adjustments within our system. If you have auto payments set up through your bank, you will need to adjust those after you have notified us via email.

If you have not yet made a pledge for this year, please send us an email, and we will get your information into the system. For those who are already doing all they can—we understand and thank you. For those who can do more to help out, please consider it. Whatever you can give, you are joining together in community to make our UUCP community garden grow.

    With Love and Gratitude,
Reverend Christine and the Board of Trustees

  • Please Join Us in Funding Exciting Changes at UUCP!!

Please Join Us in Funding Exciting Changes at UUCP!!

Building renovation is happening at UUCP. Some of these renovations will be happening during the month of July and first week of August as those changes must happen before our new tenants arrive and in time for our next programming year. The Johnson Room expansion, Sanctuary Wall and Wiggle room will happen after funding is achieved. With that in mind, we hope you will join us soon in supporting our Mini-Capital Campaign.

We’re raising $175,000 to get everything completed. Not only does it serve our Congregation well, but in many instances prepares us for the future in creating new income streams as well. This money will cover the cost of construction, permitting where needed, and final finishes. Our Renovation Team is made up of Bunny Hodas, as the project manager, Duke Plattner, who will oversee the fundraising, and Marlene Katz, who will help communicate to the Congregation on a regular basis what is happening, what you need to know in terms of spaces, how we’re doing on our fundraising, etc. Watch Compass and the website for regular updates. While we’d love to complete the bigger projects sooner than later, we will be fiscally responsible in waiting until we’ve raised those funds to proceed, so pledging and paying in increments or later in the year is just fine. Please email your intention of support to renovation@phoenixuu.org. Or if you’re ready to pledge or donate now, you can access the pledge form directly.

You can learn more details on the website: Mini Capital Campaign 2024.

Together, We can Close the Gap!

You are essential to our success! We need 200 people to join us in the next two weeks and our goal of closing the gap can be achieved. We, your Minister and your Board, believe in all of you, and your ability to manifest our values.

    Close the Gap Campaign

We need 200 people to pledge $25 more a month. That will raise $60,000. We need you to be one of those people. If we all pull together, we can do this! Here’s a breakdown:

    $25/month = $6.25/week = only .89/day
    $25/month x 12 months = $300/year
    200 pledging units x $300 per year ($25/month) = $60,000

  • Last Chance to Represent UUCP at the 2024 General Assembly

All UUCP Members, including youth, are invited to participate in the 2024 UUA All Virtual General Assembly as a Delegate.

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), which brings together 5,000 people from the 1,000+ UU congregations worldwide. It is fully virtual in 2024, and will run from Thursday, June 20th to Sunday, June 23rd.

The full program includes workshops, lectures, services, a parade, and musical performances (our own Benjie Messer served as music director for the 2020 GA). There are also youth programs.

GA is where UUs affirm and commit to putting values into action. In 2024, we will vote on a historic change in line with our own mission—to be a spiritual community for our time. Delegates will vote on adoption of the set of new UU Values that Rev. Christine has been speaking to from the pulpit.

Eligibility: You must be a member of UUCP to be a Voting Delegate. Non-members are welcome to attend, but would not hold voting rights.

Registration options: Full online registration is $315 until May 15, and $400 after May 15. Children up to 9th grade are free with a registered adult.

Or, you can join as a Business Only Delegate for a donation of as little as $0.

Next steps: To be a Delegate, you must sign up with both UUCP and the UUA.

    • To sign up with UUCP, complete the form below. Please submit by Sunday, May 26th.
    • To sign up with the UUA and pay your registration or donation, follow this link.

If you have any questions, please let us know at board@phoenixuu.org

More information about GA can be found at https://www.uua.org/ga.
