Is It Time to Formally Join Our Community?
We will be recognizing new members on Sunday, Nov 10, as part of the service. If you are ready to formally join our UUCP community, please let the Membership Team know so we can prepare. You can become a member if you have attended a Starting Point session or had a conversation with the Minister and if you have pledged financial support (or asked for a waiver.) Our membership ceremony confirms a mutual commitment of the member to the community and of the community to the member, all in support of our shared mission to each other and to our wider society.

Preparing Ahead for a Complicated, Two-Page Ballot
As you know, the ballot for this election will be two pages long, with numerous county and state propositions, as well as judges to vote on. The information given in the Ballot Guide you receive in the mail is often incomplete or misleading. The links below give you information from Civic Engagement Beyond Voting (CEBV) and Save Our Schools (SOS) that might help inform your decisions.
In general, your Civic Engagement team agrees with most of these recommendations with the exception of the suggested vote on the Open Primaries Proposition 140. For specifics on what passing Prop 140 would mean, please read this article.

Members of the UUCP Rebellion, IT’S SHOWTIME!
The Futuristic Fundraiser Silent Auction is “Opening for Business!” It will go “live” this Saturday, Oct 26th, at high noon, for all those registered to peruse the offerings and place your initial bids! It’s a great way to get familiar with the new online bidding process so you can be a deft bidder as time winds down to the close of the silent auction at the Gala, Saturday, Nov 9th, at 6:15pm. The in person, Live Auction will begin at 6:30pm.
Beat the rush and REGISTER now. It will simplify signing in at the Gala. Give your name. Get a checkmark by it. You’re in! No worries though, if you’re not registered before you attend, you can still do that when you arrive. We’ll have volunteers on hand and it’ll just take a few minutes.
The Fundraising Team will also have a table this Sunday at the back of the sanctuary for the Shared Ministry Sunday event. You can register there too!
The Futuristic Fundraiser Action Team has two more requests. One, we need 4-5 more Live Auction event donations to round out the list. Go to the DONATE page and see what we recommend for the Live Auction “Experiences” and then select the Live Auction button and fill out the FORM. With 10 items, we’ll have a blast with the live paddle auction!
Two, to round out the evening, we need Raffle Items like gift cards, restaurant certificates, etc. in any amount you can offer. All will be accepted. Please contact Marlene Katz (via email) to make arrangements to give her your gift.
Remember, this is an “optional” Sci-Fi costume, community building event. Have fun with it! Live long and prosper. ????
