RAISE YOUR VOICE TODAY!  THE HOUSE is voting today on whether or not to save our and our grandchildren’s future!

The House has postponed to Thur. 9/30, its vote on the $1.2 trillion bi-partisan infrastructure bill. And funding cuts to the related $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation plan bill are being discussed.

The two bills together, as originally written, are the climate plan we have waited decades for, putting the U.S. on the path to reducing carbon emissions by 50% across the economy by 2030. We must stop the funding cuts and any changes that would increase emissions. Join us in calling for those defending the two bills to HOLD THE LINE!

PASS THE ENTIRE RECONCILIATION BUDGET, INCLUDING ALL FUNDING RELATED TO THE CLIMATE CRISIS, ALONGSIDE THE BIPARTISAN BILL.

Call your Members of Congress today!

CALL SCRIPT: My name is ________ . I am a constituent from _________ and I’m a member of Earth Justice Ministry of UUCP  (or ____________________).  A majority of Americans want bold comprehensive climate legislation now.

We are calling on you and every other Member of Congress to pass the reconciliation budget plan, in its entirety, alongside the bipartisan bill. Without bold comprehensive climate action, there must be no deal.

ACC paid for the report, which uses data given to them by the utilities. It shows renewable energy as more expensive.  Other sources show Clean Energy as being less expensive.  So many people question their report. And, more importantly, the latest reports show a code red alert about global warming.

If finalized later this fall, the Clean Energy Rules will modernize Arizona’s outdated policies for clean energy by enacting new requirements for APS and TEP to deliver 100% carbon-free electricity; expand programs that help customers save energy and money; and issue competitive bids as they invest in a growing power system. So, please comment, call, email, or write the commissioners about this, asking them to vote for the Clean Energy Rules, as previously considered.  And ask them to pass them now, without further amendments. Thank you.

    The Occasional Vegan

Bacon! OH yes, the flavor adds so much. Here is a way to get that flavor without actually eating bacon (which is not so great for the planet OR for your body.) Thinly slice zucchini, eggplant, carrot, with a vegetable peeler or thinly slice tempeh. Soak in marinade: 1 t. coconut aminos or tamari, 1 t. water, ½ t. liquid smoke, ½ t. maple syrup, ½ t. smoked paprika, a pinch of salt. Remove from marinade and lay in single layer on parchment paper on a baking sheet. Roast in oven at 350 for 8-12 minutes or so. Watch carefully as this can go from golden to black in a flash. Nice in a BLT, chopped as topper for salads or cassseroles.

If you have ideas about eating less meat and more plants that you’d like to share, please send them to earthjustice@phoenixuu.org.
