Respite Care for Homeless People and their Pets
Our Share the Plate Recipient for August is the respite services program at Circle the City. This vital program offers recuperative respite care where people facing homelessness can rest, heal, and recover from a serious illness or injury, including burns from the hot summer streets.
All respite care patients receive daily healthcare, mental health and substance abuse services, a bed, meals, and transportation to medical appointments. Pets are welcome and are provided care and supplies (such as booties for walking on hot streets).
Many of these services and supplies (e.g., towels, pet supplies) are not reimbursable by government sources, so Circle the City relies on cash donations from the Phoenix community. Learn more at: Circle the City: Respite Care.
