About BLUU

BLUU, which stands for Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism, is committed to expanding the power and capacity of Black UUs within Unitarian Universalism; providing support, information and resources for Black Unitarian Universalists; and justice-making and liberation for Black people through our faith.

Half of the money that BLUU gets will be going to a housing project in Minneapolis that they are sponsoring to bring affordable housing to black and indigenous families. As part of the revolution, we know that stable and affordable housing is a way to ending the carceral state, build wealth in families and create stability in the community. BLUU has set a goal to raise $100,000 by the end of the year to drop the expected monthly payment for residents from $1800 to $1200—the difference for most between truly sustainable and perhaps impossible living costs.

It is BLUU’s hope that this initiative will change the material conditions for Black and Indigenous families who move into the units that are built.
