Have you found a physical place where you feel awe, stillness, comfort, inspiration, or a “sacred presence” of some kind? For some of us these feelings are found in the wonders of nature or the stillness of an ancient cathedral. For others, that space is a retreat center, a quiet bench in a cemetery, or the yoga mat. For still others, sacred spaces are those which provide profound experiences of solitude or connection with others.
This session will begin with a bit of reflection grounded in the readings of writers who have reflected on sacred spaces, such as contemporary authors Anne Lamott and Pam Houston, conservationists Aldo Leopold and John Muir, and figures in the Transcendentalist movement, such as Henry David Thoreau and Louisa May Alcott.
Most of the session will involve us sharing our own experiences of sacred places, sacred spaces.
All are warmly welcome!
