  • Connect & Engage Small Group

    December 15, 6:00 pm

Are you new to UUCP? Have you not been engaged with the community for a while? Connect & Engage is a small group that is for people who want to expand their connections at UUCP. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at 6:00 pm. A new group started on November 17 and is operating as an in-person and Zoom group. Please join us for some meaningful conversation.

Small groups are the backbone of the UUCP community. This is where we get to really know people and form friendships that last a lifetime. Following the theme of the monthly packet, we delve deeply into questions that share ideas and allow us to learn more about each other – far more than could be ascertained in a conversation on Sunday after service.

Contact participation@phoenixuu.org to learn more or to sign up.

  • Notes From Your Dance Partner – December 1, 2022

Notes From Your Dance Partner – December 1, 2022

We are living in interesting times as a Unitarian Universalist denomination. Our presidential nominating committee just nominated Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt as the candidate for our denomination’s next president, succeeding Susan Frederick-Gray, the previous called minister to UUCP. This congregation has a special connection with this position and Rev. Betancourt is a powerful leader who will move us into our promise to be a faith for our time, working against racism and oppression. You can learn more about her here.

Last Sunday, I spoke about the denomination’s commission to rewrite our principles and purposes. I am very excited about the first draft that came out a few weeks ago. The values have focus and depth that can lead our faith into the future. We are talking with our board and our adult faith development team about ways that you can engage in them more. You can learn more about the revised values here.

Our world needs Unitarian Universalism now more than ever. It needs our inclusive, expansive, pluralistic, love-focused, community-based ministry in these times of hate, division, and the strong push against progressive values that move our society forward. I am proud to be a Unitarian Universalist. And I am so very proud to be your minister as we continue this sacred work.

  • Augmented Reality Continues

    Augmented Reality Continues

Our UUCP teens have been learning Augmented Reality via the Hoverlay App. Our second teen project we have to share is from Gio Palumbo. In her Hoverlay video you can learn about one of her favorite memories of being a part of UUCP!

We have included a QR code which you can scan with a smartphone camera to be directed to her video and music she made. You will be prompted to download the Hoverlay app before viewing the video.

Our teens will continue to learn and publish more Hoverlay spaces this fall. It is not too late for any of our teens to join the program. We look forward to sharing more memories and special moments from our teens via Augmented Reality with you in the future.

  • Christmas Caroling Caravan

    Christmas Caroling Caravan

UUCP’s Christmas caroling caravan is back! If you enjoy singing Christmas carols and spreading cheer, please join us. We’ll meet at UUCP on December 17 at 12:00pm, sing a few carols together, and then spend a relaxed afternoon visiting and singing to UUCP elders who are rarely able to attend services in person. If you’ll definitely be attending, let Benjie know at benjiemesser@phoenixuu.org!
