UUCP Childrens Ministry Navigators

Our Navigators chapter is a multigenerational alternative to mainstream scouting that brings our values and the 8 UU principles into the outdoors

The bedrock of our UUCP Navigators group is to strive for a more inclusive, multigenerational, non-oppressive space, for our youth. We strive to create an environment that fosters safer spaces for creating memories and experiences with the flora and fauna that live around us. We view our stories and experience through a lens of diversity and attempt to lift each other up as we travel down this path together.

This Spring our Navigators have been learning about mental health. Youth that join us for Navigators will take a brief walk along our nature path. On our walks we will be pausing and reflecting on different emotions and aspects of mental health. We have been learning about deep listening and reflecting as a group. In future classes we will be building on these skills. As we take this journey we will also learn to identify some of the birds that frequent our campus and the names of plants as well.

The cute bird you see in the featured image is called a rock wren, and this photo is curtesy of Jezz Putnam.
