We are passionate about anti-racism, anti-oppression, equality, and justice work. Social justice is not just a component of our ministry; it is embedded into every part of us. We strive for a multicultural anti-oppression presence in every aspect of what we do, including worship, outreach, and even committee work.
The AZ Legislative session for 2021 has finally ended. Although it’s discouraging to see so many bills pass that do not align with UU Principles, there have been a few positives and evidence that our activism has had some positive effect. The current law enforcement-driven approach to public safety is not working, particularly not for Black communities. Any approach that centers punishment as a tool of public safety jeopardizes the health of whole communities and places the people in those communities at extreme risk. The group Color of Change has started a petition of support for “The People’s Response Act” in Congress. Read more about the Act and sign the petition.
